Using a razor blade, cut out a 13 cm × 13 cm square on the side of the large carton.
Cutting the access hole
Stretch one end of the stockinette over the large hole you just made. Tape around the edges using masking tape. Repeat the taping so that there are two layers of tape holding down the stockinette.

On the opposite side from the hole and stockinette, cut a 1 cm × 1 cm square using the razor blade.

Cut out two 4 cm × 4 cm squares of dental dam.

Fold one square of dental dam in half. In the middle of the folded edge, make a slit of about 0.5 cm using the razor blade. Repeat for the other piece. Each piece of dental dam should end up with a 1 cm slit in the middle.
Take one of the pieces of dental dam and place it over the small hole in the carton. Align the slit so that it sits in the middle of the hole. Once in place, put two pieces of tape on two sides of the dental dam — which sides doesn't matter.

Take the other piece of dental dam and place it on top of the first. Align it the same way, but make sure the slit runs in the opposite direction to the one beneath it — the slits should form a cross. Tape down all four sides of this piece.

Take the 26 cm × 26 cm piece of white mesh and place it on top of the carton, with the bucket centred on the mesh. Inspect the mesh and make sure there are no holes. Secure the mesh around the rim of the carton using two rubber bands, placing one at a time and avoiding crushing the carton. Adjust the mesh so that it is pulled tight and flush with the rim.

Trim the excess netting around the circumference of the carton.

Tape down the mesh using masking tape, twice. Make sure all the edges of the tape are secured.
